Thoughts

I've been thinking about some things which make me smile when I think about Grannie. So here goes, in no particular order: Her asbestos hands. She could hold any pot or tray, no matter how hot. and she could kill a wasp between her thumb and forefinger with just a tissue. Her Steyning Father Christmas presents. Right up until last year she got us stocking fillers for Christmas day. She knew we were all big kids. Her amazing memory. She always asked about my friends and remembered their names and families, even if she hadn't seen them in a looooong time. Her catchprases. I used to ask to use the loo at her house and she would always say: "We don't charge!" Her toyboy. She had posters of Jonny Wilkinson up in her house. Awesome! Her superhuman strength. She used to pat us on the head and unknowingly nearly knock us sideways. Her effort. She always looked the part, even down to wearing glitter and tinsel on her crutches to my Fairy-themed 21st Birthday party. Her chuckle. Just because it was such a nice sound! Thanks for the lovely contributions everyone. X

Remembering my dear friend Sheila, always cheerful, we really enjoyed each others company discovering many things we had in common, love of children, art and of course singing. Also we were both Akelas with a cub pack. Will not forget you! Love Audrey

Every Friday standing next to Sheila in Cantatrice she never failed to smile and enjoy the wide variety of beautiful songs we learned to share with others. She was an inspiration and so loved - how we shall miss her! Ruth
